Synopsis

The story continues with Batou from the original Ghost in the Shell. Continuously plagued by the thought of his lost comrade the Major, he continues his work for Section 9 perpetually thinking about his life and what it means to be human. You see, in this movie most of the humans are gone, and mostly everyone is some part cyborg. More and more people are not normal people and instead have completely mechanical bodies and rarely any remnants of their original brains, or ghosts, left. They are ghosts in the shells. So Batou is walking around, being a detective of sorts, dealing with people and trying to find out why some cyborgs without brains killed a bunch of people. He digs deeper to find out more and more about the company behind the cyborgs, and discovers something very interesting about them.
